Houck
470 Samoset Road, Eastham

The
Houck cottage is unique for a whole lot of reasons, any one of which
would make it among the more desirable of cottage rentals. It shares
seven acres of land with the owner's home and woodworking shop, neither
of which is immediately visible due to all the land in between. It's
the only cottage on Ice House Pond; you'd share your little body of
water only with the bike trail riders who are on a dike-like elevation
(the old railroad tracks) on the opposite side. Birds are plentiful;
there's even a red-tailed hawk who visits occasionally. It's set in a
bit from Great Pond and Samoset Roads, so you can sense the privacy and
isolation, yet there's a public pond beach a short distance away,
complete with lifeguard, and you can access the bike trail right up the
road. If you want to leave the peace and quiet and solitude, the town
library and Brown's Superette are only about a half-mile away. First
Encounter Beach, possibly Eastham's most scenic public bay beach, is a
straight line down Samoset Road, about a mile and a half away. Nature
and convenience are equally at your fingertips from this spotless
two-bedroom cottage. The large eat-in kitchen is totally separate from
the livigroom for a lot of indoor space. The livingroom gleams when
the sun comes in through the large sliding glass door onto the polished
hardwood floor. The bathroom is "home-style"...no tin shower here, and
there's also a shore shower outside (not enclosed) for rinsing off salt
and sand. The cottage has phone, washer, and cable TV with VCR. It is
a NON-SMOKING cottage; please respect the owners' wishes. |
