There are so many reasons to visit Outer Cape Cod. The cloudless blue skies and clear blue ocean welcome sun-seekers from around the planet, but when the skies turn gray or the ocean pounds and sprays with anger pent up in its mighty waves, take advantage of the clouds to explore our dirt roads and hidden ponds. Visit those unheralded experiences such as Rich's Fruit Stand in South Wellfleet, where they still sort cranberries the way they did two hundred and more years ago...and give demonstrations by appointment in the fall when the cranberry crops are ripe. Go to a real baseball game in July, and be sure to get autographs...someday you'll watch the World Series and see the players who signed that evening baseball for you. The Cape Cod League sends more players to the majors than any other. For a different day in the sun, go to the annual lifeguards' competition and cheer for your summer town team or the Cape Cod National Seashore crew; this strenuous experience proves just how ready they are to fight the waves in a real emergency. Watch the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean and the sunset over Cape Cod Bay on the same day for a soul-satisfying glimpse of beauty. Or just watch the fishing boats come back to the Wellfleet pier to tie up and off-load their cargo of shellfish. Grab an ice cream cone while you're there. Life is going on all around; find it, see it, live it.
